Introduction
As part of our outreach programme in Yilo Krobo we visited Nsutapong, a community near Klo Agogo on the 13th of February 2025 at 10am. Nsutapong is one of the 48 communities in the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly. The community is about 90 kilometers drive from Somanya and about 10 Kilometers from Begoro in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region. Nsutapong has a Primary and Junior High School. The community is predominantly a farming community. The main crops are plantain, cocoyam, cassava, and maize. In attendance were: Otiko Afisah Djaba – Executive Director, Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation and James Sambian – M&E Officer and Programs Manager, Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation. Participants from the community were 41 in number consisting mostly of farmers and traders.
Objective
The purpose of the outreach program was to introduce the Foundation to the community and learn from first hand their concerns and interest as well as the interventions that would best support the development of vulnerable young girls, women and persons with disability in the community. The second purpose was to observe and select volunteers from the group to serve as HDMF facilitators (movers and shakers) in the community to serve as liaison between HDMF and the community. The third purpose was to energize the community to buy into the mission of HDMF and encourage them to provide material and in-kind support to vulnerable persons in the community.

Key Issues:
The main issues and challenges raised by the participants included the following:
- Poor communication network. (Residents have to go to a particular place to get reception).
- Poor road network making mobility difficult.
- Inadequate water resources resulting in the use of jerry cans (otherwise known as Kuffour gallons) to fetch water from long distances. Need more boreholes in the community.
- Teachers in the School not enough. Need more teachers.
- Need farming inputs (Insecticide and spraying machines).
