1000 Wheelchairs Mobilization Campaign

Imagine living in a world where every step feels like a battle, where simple tasks become monumental challenges, and where dignity is a luxury, few can afford.  It is heartbreaking to watch human beings living undignified lives by crawling in dirty and muddy areas on their hands or knees and in some cases being house bound in our communities for lack of wheelchairs and assistive devices.

This is the reality for millions of Ghanaians with disabilities, who face insurmountable barriers in accessing wheelchairs and assistive devices that could transform their lives. The Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation envisions a Ghana where every individual with a disability can live life to the fullest, free from the constraints of inaccessible environments and limited opportunities. A Ghana where wheelchairs and assistive devices are not privileges, but fundamental rights.  To address this urgent need HDMF launched a campaign for 1000 wheelchairs for the 16 regions in Ghana in 2021.  Bearing in mind that the country has over 187,522 persons with physical disability, 300,000 blind persons and 332,000 with sight impairment, 16,000 is a drop in the ocean.

We invite you to join the1000 Wheelchairs Mobilization Campaign to break down the barriers and build a more inclusive society. Together, We Can Make a Difference one device per person by ensuring that everyone has access to the tools they need to thrive. Give  to lend a hand to revolutionize the way we think about disability and accessibility in Ghana.

At HDMF we are determined and committed to enlist individuals like compassionate self to provide wheelchairs and assistive devices that enable people with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities.  We also need others to volunteer to raise awareness that will educate the public about the importance of accessibility and the impact of assistive technology on people’s lives and advocate for change that will push for policy changes and infrastructure development that promote equal access to opportunities for all.

The Time for Change is Now for you to support us in this revolutionary movement to create a more inclusive and accessible Ghana. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a life of dignity and purpose.
